We say that distilling water removes contaminants and produces the highest possible quality pure drinking water. But, what exactly are these contaminants you may need removed from your tap or well water, and what are the health consequences of not removing them? And why not just buy bottled water? Let’s address all these questions.

First off, when you want a drink of water, that’s probably exactly what you wanted. You didn’t ask for any arsenic, bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fluoride, radionuclides, lead, chlorine, volatile organic compounds, etc., you wanted pure drinking water. But, in many cases, they are there.

The human body is two-thirds water, and the quality of the water you put in is directly related to how well the human body will run. Following is a list of the contaminants that are most common in water supplies of the United States and the health problems they cause:

Arsenic– some people who drink water containing arsenic over many years could experience skin damage, circulatory problems, and an increased risk of cancer. One source of arsenic in drinking water is embalming fluid leached over years from cemeteries. (Anyone for another glass of grandpa?)

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)– VOC’s can cause cancer; kidney, liver, and brain damage; and damage to the nervous, reproductive, and immune systems. Some VOC’s are “endocrine impostors” that mimic hormones triggering biological reactions that wreak havoc in the brain, and in the immune and reproductive systems.

Viruses– can cause numerous health problems including gastroenteritis, poliomyelitis, fevers, rashes, paralysis, aseptic meningitis, gastrointestinal infections, and infectious hepatitis, among others.

Fluoride– a mutagen, fluoride also can cause dental fluorosis (a brittleness and staining of the teeth), I.Q deficits in children, skeletal fluorosis (brittleness and loss of bone mass), and it may cause or facilitate cancer growth

Well, I’ll just drink bottled water you say. Think again! In a recent test of 1,000 bottles of 103 different brands of bottled water bought in California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Texas and the District of Columbia, about ONE THIRD of the brands tested had at least one sample that was contaminated with high levels of pollutants that exceeded levels allowed by California or bottled water industry standards or guidelines. 22% of waters contained levels of synthetic compounds such as arsenic that exceeded the California limit, and 17% contained levels of bacteria above voluntary industry standards. This is not pure drinking water.

The FDA does not regulate water bottled and sold within the same state. In contrast, tap water is at least regulated by the EPA for minimum standards. Think on that the next time you grab for a bottle of water.

Distilling at home is the only way you can be certain 100% of the time to be pouring a glass of nothing but H2O – PURE DRINKING WATER! Distillation creates pure drinking water for you and your family. By reducing the water to vapor we can separate out the impurities, bacteria and harmful additives and minerals that are present in filtered and tap water. Are there health benefits to pure drinking water? Of course – it’s the way nature intended it to be.

Distiller Parts with Descriptions

Vents– This permits an air intake and exhaust.  Providing cooling on air intake from the fan blower condensing radiator.

Boiler drain– This provides a drain to remove separated minerals and metals, which are being removed by the boiling process.

Dispensing valve– This delivers pure distilled water as required.

Power Cord– 110V- 60 Hertz.

Solenoid Shut off Valve– This serves as a safety feature so that water cannot enter the boiler when the distilled water tank is full.

Insulated Boiler– To improve the heat transfer into the fluid and reduce heat loss to atmosphere.

Temperature Control– Should the water not enter the boiler, the element may burnout.  This control turns off the element when the temperature reaches 200 F.  It turns on again when temperature is 195 F.  Continues this sequence until water is restored.

Steam line– Showing exit from the boiler and entrance to the cooling condenser.

Cooling Condenser– Returns hot steam vapor to pure water.

Cooling Fan– Aids in the cooling process.

MHD Scale Control Unit– Using the science of Magneto hydrodynamics action, hard scale is reduced to soft scale and sludge.  Thereby prolonging the time of internal inspection of the boiler.  We are the only distillation company to use this science.

Tilt Switch– Water in bottom storage tank rises as it fills slowly changes the angle of the switch at the predetermined level.  This switch shuts the unit down when the distilled water tank is full.

Toggle Switch– This switch controls the heating element.  When it’s time to inspect the boiler, this switch can be turned off cutting power to the heating element.  The boiler can be opened, activated the tilt switch and water will flow into the boiler for its rinsing cycle.

Electrical Cover– This cover protects the exposed wires on the back of the heating element

Spring Clips– Fastens boiler cover with enough pressure to seal in the generated steam.

Loose Steam Line– This permits the lid to swing wide providing clear access to boiler components.

Cold Water Line– As shown the cold incoming water parallels the hot steam line.  Two-fold reacting absorbs some heat and cools steam line for more efficient cooling.

Float Control– Maintains the proper water level above the element, approximately 1.5 inches.

Boiler Drain Outlet– leads to exterior valve shown on page 1.

Heater Element– 1500 watts with a surface area of approximately 100% larger than conventional single loop elements.  This reduces the watts per square inch, thereby increasing the element life.

Water Inlet Valve– Permits the water to enter the boiler.

Liquid Level Probe– Secondary control of water level in boiler chamber.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • What is the cost to run this distiller? The model A5, A10, and A15 all use about $0.12 per gallon at typical kilowatt-hour costs.
  • What is the difference between the model A and B distiller? The Model A distiller comes with an inline pre-filter, MHD device, and solenoid shut off. The Model B is a basic unit.
  • Can I hook my distiller to my “Ice and Water in the door” refrigerator? You can if you order the “Demand Pump Option.” The Demand Pump kit includes everything you need to send water from your distiller to your refrigerator hookup.
  • How do I connect my distiller?Your new distiller will come with a saddle valve connector and plastic tubing. All you need to do is connect the saddle valve to a cold water line in your home and then plug in the distiller.
  • What do I need to do to maintain my distiller? On models with the MHD device, all you’ll need to do is open the boiler drain and let it run to the fluid runs clear. PLEASE UNPLUG YOU DISTILLER FIRST!!!!!!!
  • How often do I need to do that?Once a week is usually often enough. Every 3 months or so it is a good idea to open the boiler and see if it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly.
  • How do I operate my distiller?Hook up the water line and plug it in. The distiller does the rest. The distiller is completely automatic; when you take a preset amount of water out of the storage tank it will turn on and refill it. It will automatically turn off again once it’s refilled.
  • Is the distiller pre-assembled?Yes. All that is needed is the water hookup. We furnish a saddle valve and 10 feet of copper hookup tubing which is very simple to hookup
  • Is there a warranty? We have a one-year warranty on all of our distillers.
  • I hear distiller companies don’t stay around long, will you be there for a year to honor the warranty? We have been in business manufacturing water treatment equipment for 27 years now. We don’t have any plans on stopping any time soon.
  • Why would I want to buy a distiller when I can get bottled water or water delivery?Your distiller will give you a gallon of clean, distilled water for approximately $ .12 cents. For bottled distilled water you will currently pay $ 1.00 and up for a gallon which you have to carry home and do not know how long it was on the shelf. Did you know that a five gallon bottle of water weighs 42 pounds? With our distiller you will never have to lift a bottle onto the dispenser again.
  • What are the advantages of distilled water over tap water?Distilled water has no metals, no chlorine, no pesticides, no bacteria, no germs, and no cancer causing elements.
  • What is involved in the distillation process?First, you boil water, then catch the steam, cool the steam and now you have distilled water.
  • Where do I get replacement parts after my warranty? All the parts are readily available at your local hardware store. The average cost of the element, 1500 watts, is under $ 10.00.
  • Why do we use only 1500 watts when others use 3000 watts?
We manufacture our distillers with a waste heat recovery process which means that the normal wasted heat from the element is used to heat the water before it enters the boiler. The result is lower wattage needed and lower electrical costs to you.

Pouring WaterRunning Waters Inc. has established itself as a solid manufacturer of home water treatment systems. Our Running Waters distiller is a home water treatment system capable of automatically converting your contaminated tap water into pure, 100% h20. It’s not some revolutionary process that cleans the water, nor is it a chemical additive or filtration method. While there are many new and wonderful methods of cleaning water, the Running Waters home water treatment system uses none of these things.

The secret is: There is no secret! We take our cues straight from Mother Nature to bring you a home water treatment system that uses steam distillation to produce 100% pure drinking water. Tap water isn’t pure. Bottled water isn’t pure. The only solution for pure water is steam distillation, and the best method to have a steam distillation home water treatment system is with one of our unique Running Waters home water treatment systems!

Don’t take our word for it. Get one of our home water treatment systems today. They easily tie in to existing water sources and automatically handle the task of refilling when needed – no effort is required, just hook up the water treatment system and enjoy clean, pure 100% H2O in your home. The applications for the Running Waters home treatment system are immeasurable. Distilled water is not for drinking alone!

Here’s How it Works!

  • Tap water is passed through the carbon pre-filter.
  • The float valve in the boiling chamber allows a predetermined amount of water from your tap into the boiling chamber.
  • The water is heated, creating steam.
  • The steam is passed through the radiator, recondensing to water.
  • When the storage tank is filled to a predetermined amount, the distiller is automatically shut off.
  • When you have taken a certain amount of water out of the storage tank (about 1 gallon) the unit switches back on until it is filled. The junk that was in your water is left in the boiler, to be cleaned out occasionally. You’ll be amazed at what was in your water.

When you are considering the purchase of a home water purification system, there are many different alternatives available to you. Several different types of purification exist, including many different types of filtration, chemical treatment and distillation. The Running Waters home water purification system doesn’t use any new chemical additives or cutting edge filtration methods to create clean, pure 100% water for your home. Instead it takes its cue from mother nature.

Nature’s process of evaporation and condensation replenishes and purifies the natural water supply. The cleanest water in nature is pure rainwater. It is pure because when water evaporates to form rainclouds, it leaves behind minerals and bacteria that it may have picked up as it flowed or drained naturally. Distillation mimics this process. First, the water is boiled, which not only kills the bacteria that are in the water, but also converts only the h20 present to steam. Everything else in the water is left behind, from dirt and rock particles to heavy metals. When water changes from gas to liquid or from liquid to solid it freezes or evaporates at a different temperature than the particles in it. So when this water recondenses it is 100% pure.

The automatic filling feature is easily connected to a convenient water source. The automatic float level control coordinates precise filling of the boiler. When the boiler is full, the heating element is activated and the distilling process begins. When the storage reservoir volume is increased to the proper upper level, again the automatic controls will deactivate the boiler and will remain on standby. When the water level in the storage reservoir is reduced to the proper lower level, the boiler is automatically reactivated, and refills the storage reservoir with purified water.

All functions on the distillation unit are automatically controlled, and require no manual monitoring. Cleaning the boiler is quick and easy. First, turn off the electricity, then open the external valve located on the side. Drain away the contaminants that have been separated from the feed water. Permit the boiler to refill before turning on the electricity.

As you can see, the Running Waters home water purification system is definitely the best available option for any application. We look forward to serving your needs. Please contact us for any questions and be assured that your satisfaction is guaranteed.

Do you have clean water in your home? There is a simple way to find out whether or not you need a home water distiller in your home. Have you heard about home water distillers but don’t think there is a difference between distilled or filtered water?

  • Fill some ice cube trays with the water you wish to test: well water, tap water or bottled water. Freeze.
  • Find a clear glass pitcher or clear drinking glass. Try to pick one with as few glass ripples as possible.
  • Before bed, fill the glass container with all the frozen cubes it will hold. Do your ice cubes have a color? Do they look milky? Watch what will happen in the morning.

Morning – Let’s now look at what our test is all about.

All natural water sources contain an amount of dissolved or entrained gasses. Also included are all the minerals, metals and whatever. Permitting your cubes to melt actually separates all this trapped matter. Only the H2O (water) freezes. The entrained material does not freeze. Therefore, as the cubes melt, only the H2O changes from a solid to a liquid.

As the H2O liquefies it exposes the micro pockets of gasses. These of course now go to atmosphere. As the liquefying continues the solids slide down the slippery ice surface. As gravity will have it, it settles in the bottom of your glass container. Can you see it? Looking through the container you will see the bottom layer where the water will appear hazy.

Finally look up through the bottom of the glass. See the stuff that is in your water? This is what you are drinking. If you like what you see, do not buy a distiller. On the other hand, if you do not like what you see I recommend drinking “pure, distilled” water without that visible sediment.

Weight-lossMore and more people these days are trying to lose weight. Instead of modern technology giving us more time to get things done, it has increased the amount of work expected of us and many people find themselves tired and lethargic after a long day at work, followed by a long relaxing weekend in preparation for another day at the grind. No time for exercise? This is something that many people hear, and it’s true. So

When you hear that you need 8 glasses of water a day, it’s not a joke. Especially when trying to lose weight, you need to consume a lot of water. Water is fuel for your metabolism, it cushions joints and helps with digestion. Not to mention it’s assistance in curbing the appetite, water is a vital part of a weight loss program. Water and weight loss go hand in hand.

If you aren’t getting enough water you may be dehydrated. Dehydration can lead to hunger, water retention and even possible illness. Your calorie consumption will drop, meaning that more of what you eat stays with you, in many cases converting to fat. You absolutely need water to function, it is the essential stuff of life.

It is important that you drink water for weight loss, almost as important as drinking clean water. You will feel better, lose weight faster, and you will definitely notice an increase in physical health and well-being.

The time to start drinking water to lose weight is today. Take advantage of the natural benefits of good hydration. Even if you are at your ideal weight, it is probably a good idea to drink more water yourself – just because you are at your goal weight, it doesn’t mean you can reduce your water consumption. Drinking water has infinite health benefits for you and will help you to become even healthier.

It’s common knowledge that you should drink 8 glasses or more of water every day to replace water that you lose through daily activity, as well as to keep your body healthy and happy. Drinking distilled water promotes weight loss and maintenance, helps with digestion, and in general is the fundamental building block to good health.

When people say that you are what you eat, they aren’t really far off the mark. More accurately they should say “You are what you drink!”, and not because it’s catchy, but because it’s absolutely true! When you drink water, it literally replaces water used in digestion and excretion. It becomes you. So when you are drinking impure water, what do you become?

Arsenic- some people who drink water containing arsenic over many years could experience skin damage, circulatory problems, and an increased risk of cancer. One source of arsenic in drinking water is embalming fluid leached over years from cemeteries. (Anyone for another glass of grandpa?)

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)- VOC’s can cause cancer; kidney, liver, and brain damage; and damage to the nervous, reproductive, and immune systems. Some VOC’s are “endocrine impostors” that mimic hormones triggering biological reactions that wreak havoc in the brain, and in the immune and reproductive systems.

Viruses- can cause numerous health problems including gastroenteritis, poliomyelitis, fevers, rashes, paralysis, aseptic meningitis, gastrointestinal infections, and infectious hepatitis, among others.

Fluoride- a mutagen, fluoride also can cause dental fluorosis (a brittleness and staining of the teeth), I.Q deficits in children, skeletal fluorosis (brittleness and loss of bone mass), and it may cause or facilitate cancer growth

Drink Distilled Water? What’s the difference?
